Anyone else notice on BAT the user !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ? Who ever he is, he’s the ultimate shill bidder, 102 cars bid on since august 2016, no cars won. Curious as to why BAT hasn’t cracked down on that; gives a bad rep to auction houses

From what I’ve seen of completed auctions and re-auctions, BaT is much more concerned with buyer walkaway issues. Also, they can prove who is a walkaway, but it’s hard to prove someone is a shill just because they get overbid again and again...not to mention higher prices benefit the site.

Fair enough. I guess they’ve built up quite the reputation with civic type r numero 1 on right now

As long as 991R not a fake bidder simply there to bid up the price, why does it matter if that person actually hasn’t won anything?

If they haven’t won anything, all that says is that they are a lowballer. If they were shilling I’d expect them to actually win sometimes (and then try to walk on their bid).

Well that’s what shill bidding is, not saying he is or isn’t, but looks awfully suspicious. But like someone else said, it’s not hurting BAT, so no one is complaining

Makes sense!

I didn’t study the bids, but it looks like he usually drops out well below the final bid price. Doesn’t look like his bids really are designed to test people’s max bids — looks more like someone trying to get a bargain or who just needs the thrill of having the high bid for a bit!
